Since 1966 Portland has been sending its middle-schoolers to the woods for a week to learn about the natural world. Portland Outdoor School is the oldest and most successful program of its kind in the country, and an important part of what we love about this town.

Recent budget cuts in our public schools are imperiling the Outdoor School experience for many students, and a lot of folks are pitching in to help bridge the gap. Chinook Book is donating $5 from every 2012 Portland Mobile Coupon Pack we sell to Friends of Outdoor School, from now until February 6.

The new editions are here, and they're the best ever. Print and mobile coupons are now available as separate products. Both print and mobile editions contain over 430 offers from local retailers. Rachel Ann Austin “Poppies on Light Green”

We held a contest for local artists to design the cover of this year’s book. The submissions were amazing, and we faced a difficult choice. In the end, we selected an oil painting by Rachel Austin. Rachel is a full time Portland artist who spends most of her day painting circles and things that fly. Her Poppy series is inspired by simplifying the crisp, organic shapes and colors of poppies. Rachel is a self-taught artist whose work is shown across the country and whose paintings have been featured on design blogs such as Daily Candy and Apartment Therapy.
